Xi Jinping Meets with Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia

On April 29, 2019, President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia at the Great Hall of the People.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Cambodia are iron friends. The Chinese side attaches great importance to developing the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries. China will, as always, support Cambodia in taking a development path suited to its national conditions and safeguarding its legitimate interests, and is willing to work with the Cambodian side to consolidate traditional friendship, intensify high-level exchanges, deepen practical cooperation and expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges to constantly push China-Cambodia relations to new highs. The two sides should implement the action plan of building a community of shared future between China and Cambodia and continuously enhance the strategic value and rich connotation of bilateral relations. We need to deepen cooperation in joint building of the Belt and Road Initiative and well build special economic zones, airports, highways and other key projects. Cambodia is welcome to actively participate in the construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.

Hun Sen congratulated the Chinese side on successfully hosting the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and praised the splendid opening ceremony of the International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 Beijing. Hun Sen said that the Belt and Road Initiative is a model of international development cooperation. It is China's initiative, but it has become the common cause of all parties involved. The world needs to jointly build the Belt and Road Initiative. Cambodia has benefited a lot from it. The Cambodian side thanked the Chinese's long-standing valuable assistance and is willing to continue to support each other with the Chinese side, work together to well implement the action plan for building a community of shared future between the two countries and advance bilateral practical cooperation in trade, investment and other fields within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
