Xi Jinping Meets with President Sooronbay Jeenbekov of Kyrgyzstan

On April 28, 2019, President Xi Jinping met with President Sooronbay Jeenbekov of Kyrgyzstan at the Great Hall of the People.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China-Kyrgyzstan relations have maintained a stable and healthy momentum of development at present. I appreciate Mr. President’s firm support for the friendship with China. The Chinese side is committed to developing all-round friendly cooperation with the Kyrgyz side and supports the domestic and foreign policies pursued by the Kyrgyz government to safeguard national independence, sovereignty and security. Kyrgyzstan was one of the first countries to support and participate in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The two sides should strengthen the alignment of the BRI with the Kyrgyz side's 2040 National Sustainable Development Strategy. The two sides should promote balanced development of trade, steadily advance production capacity cooperation, accelerate the implementation of key projects, promote local economic development and people's livelihood, strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, comprehensively elevate security cooperation, and intensify efforts in crackdown on the "three forces" of terrorism, separatism and extremism and cross-border organized crime. The Chinese side fully supports the Kyrgyz size in well hosting the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek this year.

Sooronbay Jeenbekov extended sincere congratulations to China on the successful hosting of the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. The outcomes of this forum are of historic significance to the world. From President Xi Jinping's speech, the international community heard the Chinese solution to promoting world peace and development. On the occasion of celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, I am glad to see the tremendous achievements the Chinese people have made. It is better to have a close neighbor than a distant relative. China is Kyrgyzstan's staunch, reliable and good neighbor and strategic partner. Sooronbay Jeenbekov said that the Kyrgyz side thanks the Chinese side's valuable support and stands ready to strengthen cooperation with the Chinese side in such areas as economy, trade, investment, water conservancy, and transportation infrastructure construction, and work together to combat the "three forces."
