On April 26, 2019, Premier Li Keqiang met with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of Vietnam at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

Li Keqiang said that China and Vietnam are important neighboring countries. A sound China-Vietnam relationship and a stable surrounding environment will not only benefit both sides, but also benefit countries and people in the region. The Chinese side is willing to enhance high-level contacts with the Vietnamese side, deepen practical cooperation, and better align the Belt and Road Initiative with Vietnam's "Two Corridors and One Economic Circle". The Chinese side is ready to achieve balanced and sustainable development of bilateral trade on the basis of expanding the scale of bilateral trade, and welcomes the entry of quality Vietnamese products into the Chinese market. China supports companies with strength and reputation to invest in Vietnam. We hope the Vietnamese side will create a sound business environment. The common interests of China-Vietnam friendly cooperation far outweigh the differences. It is hoped that the two sides will bear in mind the overall and long-term interests, focus on cooperation, properly manage differences, and promote joint development to take substantive steps at an early date, so as to maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea. The Chinese side supports the Vietnamese side in assuming its role as the rotating chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2020 and is willing to work with the Vietnamese side and other parties to steadily advance the consultations on the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea to promote the economic integration in East Asia and the development of China-ASEAN relations.

Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that the Vietnamese side congratulates China on its great achievements in development over the past 70 years. Vietnam-China relations enjoy sound and steady development, with sustained and in-depth practical cooperation between the two sides. The Vietnamese side actively supports the Belt and Road Initiative and is ready to enhance the synergy between the two countries' development strategies and promote more balanced development of bilateral trade. The Vietnamese side is willing to work with the Chinese side to well implement the high-level consensus between the two countries and safeguard the long-term stability of the South China Sea in the spirit of comrades and brothers. As the rotating chair of the ASEAN next year, Vietnam is committed to promoting greater development of ASEAN-China relations.

After the meeting, Premier Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc jointly witnessed the signing of multiple bilateral cooperation documents.
