On April 25, 2019, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee Wang Huning met with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of Vietnam at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.
Wang Huning said that China and Vietnam are a community of shared future with strategic significance. In recent years, General Secretary Xi Jinping and General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong have conducted historic mutual visits and made strategic planning for advancing China-Vietnam relations. Next year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of China-Vietnam diplomatic relations. The two sides should take the implementation of the consensus reached by top leaders of the two countries as the mainline, give play to the guiding role of high-level exchanges and make good use of the special advantages of inter-party exchanges to build a mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation pattern. Both sides should adhere to the fine tradition of communication and consultation to consolidate the public opinion foundation of bilateral friendship and help China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperation yield more fruitful results.
Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that Vietnam and China are good-neighborly and friendly neighbors and comprehensive strategic cooperative partners who stand together through thick and thin. The Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese government are willing to take the opportunity of jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative to deepen exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese side in various fields and open up new prospects for bilateral relations.
