Li Keqiang Meets with State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi of Myanmar

On April 25, 2019, Premier Li Keqiang met with State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi of Myanmar at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

Li Keqiang said that China and Myanmar are linked by mountains and rivers and enjoy profound "Paukphaw" friendship. The Chinese side attaches great importance to developing bilateral relations. President Xi Jinping met with you yesterday. We are ready to push for steady development of China-Myanmar relations on the basis of the five basic principles of peaceful coexistence. The Chinese side firmly supports Myanmar in taking a development path suited to its national conditions, and supports the efforts of the Myanmar government to promote domestic peace and national reconciliation. Next year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Myanmar. We are ready to consolidate political mutual trust, deepen cooperation in various fields and realize common development with the Myanmar side. Myanmar is an important country along the Belt and Road. We are ready to deepen the alignment of development strategies with the Myanmar side and promote the construction of the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor. We will expand imports of high-quality and featured agricultural and livestock products from Myanmar. The Chinese side is ready to provide assistance within its capacity for Myanmar's economic development and improvement of people's livelihood.

Aung San Suu Kyi congratulated China on holding the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and believed that the cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative will reach a new high. Myanmar and China enjoy sound relations and fruitful cooperation outcomes. I thank the Chinese side for its strong support for Myanmar's economic and social development. We are ready to take the opportunity of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations next year to push for more results in bilateral practical cooperation and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

After the meeting, Li Keqiang and Aung San Suu Kyi jointly witnessed the signing of multiple bilateral cooperation documents between China and Myanmar.
