Wang Yi Meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship Jorge Marcelo Faurie of Argentina

On April 25, 2019, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship Jorge Marcelo Faurie of Argentina, who was in China for the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

Wang Yi said that President Xi Jinping's successful state visit to Argentina last year consolidated the friendship and mutual trust between both countries, and laid a solid foundation for cooperation between the two sides. The Chinese side is ready to work with the Argentine side to actively implement the important consensus between the two heads of state, strengthen exchanges, deepen cooperation, and push China-Argentina comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level. The Chinese side appreciates the Argentine side's positive response to the Belt and Road Initiative, and the two sides should further align the development strategies, strengthen cooperation in the areas of infrastructure construction, trade, agriculture and energy, and jointly build the Belt and Road Initiative into a platform for all countries to achieve common development, mutual benefit and win-win results. Both sides should enhance communication and coordination within the frameworks of international organizations and multilateral mechanisms to jointly safeguard the common interests of emerging markets and developing countries.

Jorge Marcelo Faurie said that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Argentina and China is rich in content and continues to move forward at a high level. The Argentine side supports the joint construction of Belt and Road Initiative, and is willing to deepen cooperation with the Chinese side within this framework. The Argentine side advocates upholding multilateralism and is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Chinese side in regional and international affairs.
