On April 24, 2019, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Foreign Minister Diego Pary of Bolivia, who was in China for the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
Wang Yi said that President Xi Jinping and President Evo Morales jointly announced the establishment of China-Bolivia strategic partnership last year, which has opened up broad prospects for mutually beneficial and friendly cooperation between the two countries. Over the past year, the two sides have actively implemented the consensus reached by the two heads of state, demonstrating the high level of mutual trust and creating the "China-Bolivia speed". The Chinese side regards Bolivia as an important partner in jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative and stands ready to strengthen the alignment of development strategies with the Bolivian side and deepen cooperation in infrastructure, energy, information and communication, agriculture and other fields. The Chinese side is ready to deepen multilateral cooperation with the Bolivian side, jointly safeguard the interests of developing countries and jointly promote mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Latin America.
Diego Pary said that Bolivia is willing to well implement cooperation projects within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and push for in-depth development of bilateral relations. He thanked the Chinese side's strong support and assistance for Bolivia's economic development and improvement of people's livelihood. The Bolivian side is ready to strengthen communication and coordination with the Chinese side in international and regional affairs. As the rotating chair of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, the Bolivian side is willing to make all-out efforts to push forward the overall cooperation between Latin America and China.
